The Day of the Dead in Pátzcuaro, Michoacán is México’s premier cultural celebration. In addition, the Lake Pátzcuaro area is one of Latin America’s most physically diverse and historically interesting regions. On this adventure packed journey, we explore exotic volcanic highlands with remote native villages, lush tropical hideaways, impressive ancient ruins, and lovely 16th century colonial towns. Festivities abound. We also browse the fabulous local craft markets and savor delicious gourmet Mexican cuisine. On the Night of the Dead, we enjoy lively and colorful festivals in a number of traditional villages where, in the graveyards, we experience a fantastic array of enchanting candlelight and brilliant flowers.

This ATI Program Includes:

Expert Guiding / Instruction
Your principle guide and trip leader is me -Henry Wilds. A U.C. Berkeley educated specialist in Latin America, I have been traveling to the Lake Pátzcuaro region for over 30 years. I have passionately studied the geography, history, anthropology, and cultures of this remarkable area and will demonstrate to you its many wonders. I will introduce you to people and places that you would never find on your own. Also, at times, you will be led by other ATI guides, as well as experienced local guides. We will all help make your journey as safe as possible, pleasant and unforgettable.

Entry Fees / Other Specific Fees
Your program includes major entry fees and many other specialized fees related to specific activities including ruins, museums, swimming, cultural presentations & guides.

Accommodations
Program prices are “per person/double occupancy.” If a single room is desired and available, an additional modest single supplement will be charged.

Ground Transportation
All major ground transport for scheduled program events is included. We use the mode of transportation that makes the most sense for each specific activity.

Some meals
At times, we travel in isolated areas where we do not encounter acceptable food. In these cases, we provide a basic lunch.

Program Does Not Include:

Most Meals
Meals, other than those mentioned above, are not included. The traditional Mexican food is excellent and relatively inexpensive. One of the true joys of traveling in traditional México is the food. We don’t provide group meals so that you are free to enjoy the food that best suits your tastes. Expect to spend a total of $200 to $300 in a week on food.

Airline Transportation
Air travel is not included in the total price. Do not purchase your tickets until you have been given the official O.K. to do so.

Tipping As a Part Of Program Activities
A common feature of international travel is the need for clients to tip various local service providers. Most operators don’t mention this until you arrive. We pay people well, and indeed cover most of the tips which occur. However, client tipping of certain providers is necessary. Expect to tip the modest total of about $40 to $50 between your waiters, maids, and bus drivers, horse guides, etc.

Anything else not mentioned
Although it is impossible to completely list here all of the items that are included, anything not mentioned above, is probably not included. If you have questions, please call.
